Jamir Davis was born and raised in San Francisco, California. He attended Archbishop Riordan High School and was a two sport athlete in football and basketball. He had much success in both sports winning a WCAL title for the first time in the school's history in football and helping his team win a State Championship for the first time in school history for basketball. He then went on to compete in football at the University of Kentucky. He graduated from the university in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
Shortly after graduation he entered graduate school at the University of Kentucky. He studied Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, and while in graduate school he was elected as President of the student association. He was awarded his Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky in December 2008. He was then hired at Serra High School in San Mateo, California as Diversity Coordinator. While working full time at Serra High School, Jamir attended law school at the University of San Francisco.
During his time in law school he interned with the Office of the Attorney General, and held clerkships with both Judge Monica Wiley and Judge Richard Kramer of the San Francisco Superior Court. He completed his Juris Doctorate in December of 2013. In May of 2015 his colleagues elected him to the position of Union Representative for Local 2240, American Federation of Teachers. In 2016 Jamir was appointed Executive Director of the Office for Civil Rights and Small Business Development for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
