Jamir Davis has spent his career on the civil rights side of the table, including four years running civil rights enforcement for a state agency. That work shapes how the firm approaches litigation: institutions have obligations, those obligations are written down, and someone has to be willing to hold them to it.
Early Years
Jamir was born and raised in San Francisco and attended Archbishop Riordan High School, where he competed in both football and basketball. He was part of the first football team in school history to win a WCAL title, and helped bring home the school's first state championship in basketball.
He went on to play football at the University of Kentucky, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications.
Graduate Work
He remained at the University of Kentucky for graduate study in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, where his classmates elected him President of the student association. He was awarded his Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling in December 2008.
That training still informs his practice. Rehabilitation counseling is the study of what an injury or disability actually costs a person over a lifetime: the work they can no longer do, the earning capacity they lose, the care they will need. It is the same analysis that determines what a serious injury claim is genuinely worth.
Law School and Public Service
Jamir returned to California as Diversity Coordinator at Serra High School in San Mateo, and attended law school at the University of San Francisco while working full time. During law school he interned with the Office of the Attorney General and clerked for Judge Monica Wiley and Judge Richard Kramer of the San Francisco Superior Court. He completed his Juris Doctor in December 2013.
In May 2015 his colleagues elected him Union Representative for Local 2240 of the American Federation of Teachers. In 2016 he was appointed Executive Director of the Office for Civil Rights and Small Business Development for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, where he oversaw civil rights compliance and enforcement for a statewide agency.
